Read the history of my soul in the pages of my eyes

Artist Reflux - November 12, 2009

As an artist I am constantly discovering the nature of creativity and its impact upon human interaction through my own creativity, people's interaction with it and how these interactions encourage me to move forward creatively. What I have learned most from this process is that people can only process experiences up to the peak of their personal level of awareness. I have been labeled deep on a number of occasions and at one time I thought it was a compliment and sometimes it is but other times it is the most kind way for a person to inform me that they have little to no idea what I was talking about during the course of my time on stage.

I could assume that some of those who are not fully grasping my work don't want to appear less aware or less intelligent in regard to what they've heard and that they assume I will look down upon them if they tell me outright they don't get it. To assume all of this however would be foolish on my behalf but it would be an exercise in wisdom for me to let you know that I didn't always get it.

The subjects that I touch on in my art are not all easily digestible; even the condensed form in which they are presented may actually make it all the more difficult consume. I have also realized that the brevity of poetry assume the listener has a basic familiarity with the topic of the poem. For example the first several lines in my poem Message

we are here
to make sense
of what don't make dollars
assigning degrees to innate scholars
we are initiates lowered
and raised authors
of the Word Sound Logos Power
we are foster
children adopting
the ways of Our Father

The first three lines are pretty self explanatory but the fourth line is where everything can begin to blur because the meaning is layered. Degrees and scholar of course are associated with education but the degrees are earned not assigned and people tend to become scholars through intense research and publication in a particular field and here I am saying its an innate quality. Well yeah because I know education is derived from the term "educare" which roughly translates to "bringing out that which is within" meaning your knowlegde is already present within you and teachers don't teach as much as they help us remember.

Fourth and fifth lines simply state that we begin the spiritual education process or education processes in general by humbling ourselves and this humility will be instrumental in developing us into who we are.

Sixth line: many people even those who believe in God are not familiar with the term "Logos" much less with its meaning. Logos is a Greek term for the rational principle that governs and develops the universe and in the Gospel according to John "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God." Word is the translated from Logos. In Christianity the Logos and the Christ are one and the same so when Jesus is referred to as the Word of God he is labeled the incarnation of the rational principle that governs and develops the universe.

Seventh line: to foster is to promote the growth of

I am simply saying that we are present in this life to stimulate understanding deeper than the our income to debt ratio by accepting the truth of who we are souls not just bodies in hopes that we become humbled by this awareness so we can begin being lifted up toward the co-creator position of our nature alongside the rational principle that governs and develops the universe and promote its growth in ourselves and each other through Christ-like thought and behavior in every aspect of our lives.

Its a tall order I know and I also know that saying all of this make it sound less like a poem and more like school plus you have to want to know. This is just the first 10 lines of a poem that is around three and half minutes in length maybe longer and I could probably write a book about it alone besides the verse says seek and ye shall find not stand right here and someone will find it for you.

What I have also learned is that is you are seeking someone will provide you hints every now and again.

Peace Within
